Ballina Tennis Club


The first stage of our club redevelopment – the access ramp – was officially opened by local parliamentarian, Tamara Smith, on Friday 1st December.  Some pictures can be viewed in the photo section of this website.

We are now working with the Council to finalise the plans for the second stage – the change rooms – and hope to commence work following our annual Open tournament on 15 January.    

Further donations, which would help with the third stage,  the kitchen upgrade, would still be greatly appreciated. This may be done through the Australian Sports Foundation, and can be made made tax free.   Details of how to contribute, and draft plans, can be found in the fundraising section of this website. Fees & Club Management


The committee has decided to increase adult membership fees and match fees for 2017 to help raise funds for our clubhouse redevelopment.   These changes will take effect from 20th February.  No other fees have changed, and they will continue to be payable only at the Bowling Club, where EFTPOS and credit card facilities are available..

So the membership fees for 2017 will be as follows:

Senior – 18 years and over on 1/1/2017   $80

Student – full-time tertiary student   $50

Junior – under 12 years on 1/1/2017   $25

12 years and over on 1/1/2017   $35

Family – one or two adults and ulimited juniors   $160

Social – non-playing   $10

These fees are due on 1st February and payable by 28th February, after which playing fees should be at non-member rates until fees are paid.  A partial membership of $50 is available to those new members who join after 1st August.  However, previous members, who did not renew their membership in February, will be required to pay the full fee of $80.     We also offer a discount of $10 for juniors commencing coaching for the first time for the year in term 3; and $15 in term 4.

Court fees

Adult member court fees are $5 for club organised activities, and $7 for competitions or night activities, requiring floodlights.  A surcharge of $4 is paid by visitors and non-members who participate in any of the club activities.

Members can book courts, subject to availability, during the day at a cost of $12 per court  unlimited ($6 for two members only) , but must provide their own tennis balls. Night hire is $20 for two hours for members ($16 for two members only), when lighting is required.

Day hire for non-members is $16 per hour per court. Night hire is $25 per court per hour

Bookings can be made at the Bowling Club reception, which is open from 9am-9pm every day of the week  or by phoning 6686 2811. On arrival at the courts players should pay their fee and collect a court key from the Bowling Club reception. They will be required to leave a deposit, which will be returned when the key is taken back after the booking has elapsed.  Those wishing for an early morning court may book and collect a court key the previous day.  If you are the last on court, please remember to lock the gate and turn off any lights used.

Juniors may play free of charge  from 4-6 pm on weekdays during term time, on Saturdays from 12-4 pm and family Sundays ( contact Mikko Helle 0413434802) , and during school holidays from 8-11 am when courts are available – and with their parents or an adult.   If additional adults play, the standard court fee of $12 per court per hour will apply, as it should parents wishing to play separately while children are being coached.  Since the clubhouse is attended by someone at these times, juniors and/or parents may simply be given a court key, if the courts are locked, since no payment is required.  At all other times , the standard fee will apply and will have to be paid at the Bowling Club.



The club is managed by a committee of up to ten members, elected at the Annual General Meeting in February, headed by four office bearers.      The 2017 committee is:

The committee normally meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7.00 pm, and any member is welcome to attend as an observer.

The club employs a part time groundsman/ part time cleaner, as well as a coaching professional by contract.
