Ballina Tennis Club

We have just been notified that we are to receive a grant of $93,000 from the Stronger Communities Fund!  So, with the $116,000 we have  in reserve or promised towards the cost of  redevelopment of the clubhouse, we are definitely in a position to commence the next stage of the change room renovation and extensions.  But further donations, which would help with the third stage of the kitchen upgrade, would still be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all those who have contributed by purchasing the Holden draw tickets and making donations through the Australian Sports Foundation, which may now be made tax free for the new financial year, details of which, and the full plans, can be found in the fundraising section of this website. Six of our members qualified for this event held in Grafton on the weekend of 12/13 August.    Frank Schultheiss and Lizzie Milne were both runners up in their events, the Open men’s and 18 and under girls respectively: while Paco Schultheiss, Oscar Parker, and Annie Milne were all semi-finalists, with Finlay Parker just missing out.   Congratulations to all on a great effort – and our strongest performance and representation in  recent years by far!

Our coach, Brandon Rowe, will run a course of adult coaching classes on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. from 25 July. This is for adults wishing to take up tennis for the first time or anyone wishing to brush up their skills, maybe after time out from the game.   Contact Brandon on 0400 403 323 for details.

The next events of any significance are our club championships in October, while we are hosting a North East tournament and another Seniors event in November.   Exact dates can be viewed in this link to our 2017 Calendar

BBQ – usually first Friday of each month following veterans morning tennis.   Next one:  September 1

Ballina Tennis Club

Welcome to the Ballina Tennis Club website, which has been designed for both members and non-members.

If you are a member, we shall keep you informed of events, activities, and happenings. If not we hope this website might encourage you to join us on our courts, if not as a member, at least to play tennis either privately or by joining some of the club’s programs as a guest.  Members do have a number of advantages, including discounted rates for play and coaching, and insurance through Tennis NSW.   Learners, for whom coaching is available, and visitors to Ballina are equally welcome, whether as members or otherwise.

We have over 350 members of all ages and abilities, and there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to play on one of our eleven synthetic grass courts throughout the week from early morning to 9.30 pm. If our clubhouse is unattended, a key to the courts can be obtained from the Cherry Street Bowling Club, which handles all public bookings and is our major sponsor.

We should  like to acknowledge here the assistance provided by Paradise FM radio, the Northern Star, and the Ballina Advocate – and  also ConArts, designer of this website, whom we would highly recommend to any local tennis or other sports club.

Details of fees, programs, coaching, and contact persons can be easily found in the following pages.

Our club is located on the corner of Cherry and Burnet Streets, immediately south of the Bowling Club.    If you need more information, go to the contact us section of this website.   You can also find out more by viewing our promotional video on YouTube: BTC Holden Submission 2017
